X'mas in Macau and Hong Kong - Day 3

Day 3 - Hong Kong 

1. Lantau Island (Ngong Ping 360 Experience / Tian Tan Buddha / Po Lin Monastery) 

Travel from Olympic MTR station to Tung Chung MTR station. Due to holiday season, we predicted that there might be a super long queue so we pre-purchased the standard cabin ticket online. (super kiasu lo) Besides, we reached Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal few minutes after opening and realize that there isn’t any crowd. But I’m glad that we went there early as we got a private cabin just for two of us. (Thanks to the kiasu-ness within me. hehe..)

Welcome to Ngong Ping Village

Actually there is nothing much here, just some restaurants and souvenir shops. If you intend to take your breakfast or lunch, i suggest that you might wan to try the vegetarian food from the Po Lin Monastery.

We purchased the vegetarian snacks coupon for the entrance inside the Tian Tan Buddha and claim our snack at the Po Lin Monastery Vegetarian Kitchen. However, the vegetarian meal coupon can also be purchased at the entrance of the Vegetarian Kitchen and there are several options for you to choose (general meal / deluxe meal) where you can dine inside the restaurant. In my case, we just purchased the snacks coupon that include fried rice vermicelli with two side dishes and a bowl of bean curd dessert (HK$33/pax).

Some snacks before leaving

So we went back around 1pm and the super long queue in the cable car terminal astounded us. Queued about 1 hour to get our turn and this time we have to share the cabin with others. This was the view during our journey back and it is so scary that the cable car stopped in the middle of nowhere due to the bad weather condition.

2. Citygate Outlets Shopping Mall

We didn’t go to Tai O as what have planned because I wanted to spend more time shopping at Citygate Outlets Shopping Mall. After we stepped into the mall, it just answered my curiosity on why people dragged luggages to this area as there isn't any hotel here. I guess their luggage is solely for stuffing all their shopping loots inside and it’s just like what we seen in Bangkok Market. (Err… Just maybe high class a bit lah. ☺)

3. The City Night View @ The peak 

 Our next stop was The Peak. From Central Station, we walked to Peak Tram Lower Terminus.

We went up the Peak via tram from the peak tram lower terminus. Actually there are other alternatives to go up the peak, eg. by taxi or public bus. But for a first timer like us, the peak tram will be our first choice.

Again, the place was so crowded and we waited for 2 hours plus until our turn to get in the tram. The place was so unorganised, no queue lines and we have to squeeze like Sardines for hours to enter the ticketing gate and even boarding. Luckily the weather is cold, if not we might smell like Sardines too. What a bad experience! =.=

Personally i felt that the view from the free observation deck @ Peak Galleria is amazing enough and there is no need for us to spend a couple bucks for the entrance of Sky Terrance 428.

We went down the Peak by local bus back to Central MTR station as the queue for the cable car was freaking long. 

Enjoyed Blackberry Somersby with the city night view in our little room. Love this so much!
